Children in the most rural areas of the United States are as likely to die by gunshot as kids in the biggest cities, a new analysis of nearly 24,000 deaths finds.

"Prevention strategies need to be targeted to youth in rural areas as well as urban areas," Powell said.

NOW WATCHING: STRAPPED

For the Hip-Hop heads, this movie is for you. If you like movies like Who’s The Man where you see a lot of Hip-Hop Cameos, “Strapped” features appearances by Busta Rhymes, Das EFX, Chi-Ali, Sticky Fingaz, Monie Love, Yo-Yo, Kool Moe Dee, and Fredro Starr as the supporting character. The setting, soundtrack, and the clothes will all take you back to the 1993 New York scene.
For the Movie heads, it’s Forest Whitaker’s first directed movie. It also stars Bokeem Woodbine in his film debut. Strapped reminds me a lot to Clockers as far as the setting.
Here’s the Plot:
“Ex-con attempting to go straight runs accross serious problems. His girlfriend gets arrested for dealing crack to an undercover police officer. In a desperate attempt to get the charges dropped against his woman, he strikes deal with weapons cop(Michael Biehn) to turn in local gun dealers. However, the D.A. is not satisfied with the results, resulting in some serious game playing and double crossing.” Written by Humberto Amador

Starring Michael Biehn, Bokeem Woodbine, Kia Joy Goodwin

When I first herd he spent like 4 million dollars on producing this album I was like PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!! But When I picked up my copy & seen the quality & detail, I was very impressed! 5 gold changeable covers, DVD & CD that I couldn't wait to play. The first track alone let me know this is a very! very! true album. The sound is soooo full track for track it may cause distortion for people with cheap speakers. Owning a copy of this album is empowering and it makes the listeners feel valued with 6 minutes tracks, a lineup of artist that I wont spoil for you, a DVD you wont forget & a album you wont skip though because you can feel each one and the huge amount of work put in. 5/5 MASTERPIECE OF ART & MUSIC, THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED MADE THIS!

Marvin Gaye TIME TO GET IT TOGETHER

Here, My Dear is a studio double album by soul musician Marvin Gaye. R.I.P.

By 1976, the relationship between Marvin Gaye and his first wife, Anna Gordy, had become estranged and was far from being repaired. Marvin, who was now carrying on an open relationship with singer Janis Hunter, and Anna often accused each other of infidelity over the years before his relationship with Hunter. Shortly after Marvin and Janis welcomed the second of their two children, Frankie, in November 1975, Anna filed for divorce. At this time, Marvin was running low on money because of an extravagant spending habit to support his lifestyle which included, among other things, a fleet of cars, several homes in and outside the country, and an increasing cocaine habit. Marvin's spending habits had made it impossible for the singer to pay Anna money for alimony and child support for the couple's only son, Marvin III. Marvin's attorney Curtis Shaw came up with a solution to Marvin to give half the royalties he would earn from his next project to Anna. After agreeing to the deal, the singer went into his recording studio in an effort to give Motown a "lazy, bad" album starting sessions in the spring of 1976. However, as Marvin set on making the "lazy" album, the singer's deep emotions and bittersweet feelings for his soon-to-be former wife took over the music.
Songs included in the album didn't just deal with the singer's troubling marriage ("I Met a Little Girl", "Anna's Song", "You Can Leave, But It's Going To Cost You") but with other deep issues including anger management ("Anger"), Jesus ("Everybody Needs Love", "Time to Get It Together"), solace ("Sparrow"), space (the loosely funky "A Funky Space Reincarnation") and new love ("Falling In Love", the one song dedicated to Marvin's new wife, Janis). An Allmusic reviewer later wrote of the music:
...the sound of divorce on record — exposed in all of its tender-nerve glory for the world to consume... Gaye viciously cuts with every lyric deeper into an explanation of why the relationship died the way it did... Musically the album retains the high standards Gaye set in the early '70s, but you can hear the agonizing strain of recent events in his voice, to the point where even several vocal overdubs can't save his delivery.

A MAN WE SHOULD KNOW

Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960–1988) was born and raised in Brooklyn, the son of a Haitian-American father and a Puerto Rican mother. At an early age, he showed a precocious talent for drawing, and his mother enrolled him as a Junior Member of the Brooklyn Museum when he was six. Basquiat first gained notoriety as a teenage graffiti poet and musician. By 1981, at the age of twenty, he had turned from spraying graffiti on the walls of buildings in Lower Manhattan to selling paintings in SoHo galleries, rapidly becoming one of the most accomplished artists of his generation. Astute collectors began buying his art, and his gallery shows sold out. Critics noted the originality of his work, its emotional depth, unique iconography, and formal strengths in color, composition, and drawing. By 1985, he was featured on the cover of The New York Times Magazine as the epitome of the hot, young artist in a booming market. Tragically, Basquiat began using heroin and died of a drug overdose when he was just twenty-seven years old.
